District Charity: Navy League of Canada Hamilton Branch and Navy League Cadet Corp Cougar

Oct 2025 Hamilton Masonic District Issue No. 2

The Navy League Cadet program welcomes youth between the ages of 9 and 12 for fun, naval-themed activities. This program is independently operated by the Navy League of Canada, with the help of hundreds of dedicated volunteers across the nation. There are more than 3,000 Navy League Cadets active in over 100 communities across Canada.
The Navy League Cadet program aims to help young Canadians learn life skills including citizenship, teamwork and self-discipline. Our programming is designed to help cadets become more aware of the world around them, become self-sufficient and confident in their own skills. Throughout their training, Navy League Cadets learn what good leadership looks like, how to work together, and how to overcome challenges. Youth leave the program with a genuine interest in their community’s well-being and equipped with skills to become active citizens.
The program in Hamilton at NLCC cougar is FREE to join. To help make the program accessible to all, the cadets and their parents are required to participate in fundraising activities, typically in the form of tagging. Cadet uniforms are provided by The Navy League Branch, along with the facility they use and all the supplies needed. Cadets are required to maintain their uniforms and return them when they leave the program. Cadets are expected to have regular attendance, even if that regular is every other week due to family arrangements.
